Press Release September 18, 2000

Berdusco is back.  Glen Shields/Shooters tie one on.
Eddie Berdusco who was carried off the field in an ambulance the first game of the season in London is back.  Although he has been in the Olympians starting line-up for the past several matches, it wasn't until last night that he truly exhibited the "Eddie of old".

Berduscos first goal came at the 1 minute mark from a direct free kick 22 yards out.  Berdusco let loose a rocket of a shot that went into the top left hand corner of the net.  It was such a world class goal even a few of the Astros players "patted him on the bum" as he jogged back to the centre.

Astros equalized 9 minutes later when Andru Malychenkov blasted one in from a goal mouth scramble.  Gus Kouzmanis who looks to all but have secured his second scoring title in the League gave the Olympians a 2-1 edge at half time scoring on a breakaway at the 41st minute.  Astros continued to press in the second half and more than held their own against the Olympians.

Berdusco got his second of the night on a nice three way play, Phil Capporrella crossed a ball into the penalty area, John Matas calmly chested it to Berdusco who volleyed it past the Astros keeper.  Olympians now move into first place in the CPSL, tied with St. Catharines on points but ahead on goal difference.

In the battle of York Region Glen Shields Sun Devils and York Shooters, both finished their regular season play with a 2-2 result.  Mike Glasgow scored both goals for the Sun Devils, John Bottineau and Mitch D'Angelo rallied for the Shooters.  Glen Shields Sun Devils Rookie of the Year nominee Tolli Dasteridis was red carded from the match, that ejection means he will miss the opening game of the Primus Cup.

Upcoming Games
London City could hold the key to see who wins this years CPSL Championship, with three matches to go in the regular season, City plays its last two games against the top two teams, St. Catharines and Olympians.  Although City currently is last in the League standings, this would be the ideal time for City to get focused to produce an upset and set the stage for this years Primus Cup.

North York Astros host the Oshawa Flames in their last game of the season, Oshawa has nine points, the Astros have eight.  This will be a game of pride.
