London City winds up winless on road

By STEVE KIPPEN, Free Press Sports Reporter

London City limped home yesterday after a 7-0 drubbing at the hands of the first-place Ottawa Wizards to wrap up their two-game Canadian Professional Soccer League road trip winless.
London lost the opening game of the road trip 3-0 on Saturday to the Montreal Dynamite.
"It's been a long road trip," City general manager Harry Gauss said. "It definitely took a toll on us."
Ottawa only led 1-0 at halftime, thanks largely to the outstanding goaltending from City 'keeper Scott Mueller.
To start the second half, City defender Steve Flatt was forced to leave the game with a groin injury and leaving a hole in the middle of the defence. Ottawa didn't wait long to expose City's weakness, scoring four goals in 14 minutes to put the game out of reach at 5-0.
"When the flood gates opened in the second half, they really opened," said Gauss.
Kevin Nelson led the Ottawa attack with three goals while Samir Karaga, Sanjeer Parmar, Mohamad Osman and Mario Andradanac added singles.
City is back in action on Friday night at Cove Road when the team plays host to the Glen Shields Sun Devils. Game time is 8:38 p.m.
