Attendance was about 120 people.
News in the next week revealed that Rene Martin had sustained four broken ribs and a punctured lung! It was my decision to leave the clock running from the press box. I think the referee Mike Cvetanovich made a great call to stop the game rather than force Martin off the field only 5 yards away. It gave the yahoos in the crowd who booed when Berdusco was given a red card time to think when 5 minutes, 10 minutes, 15 minutes went by and then the ambulance drove down the running track and a medical crew got out to aid Martin. The ambulance pulled away to a big ovation from the crowd who finally realized how serious this was. Even Eddie Berdusco who was ejected and exited on the far end of the field kept sending for teammate relay messengers to see how he was doing.
Referee Cvetanovich also clamped down on the next contact between the teams as he whipped out yellow cards to the two players involved in a mild shoving incident three minutes after the action resumed. There were no further incidents.
