CPSL All Stars vs Canada's Development team
by Rocket Robin

Results of the exhibition game played at Centennial Stadium in Etobicoke at 1pm between the CPSL All Stars (consisting of the six teams that didn't qualify for the Cup Final played at 3pm) and the Canadian Development team.

13 min...Canada GOAL Dwayne DeRosario...DeRosario chips 20 yard freekick over wall and just under bar as goalie Adam Morandini (York Region Shooters) took two steps forward thinking faked shot.

17 min...CPSL GOAL Willy Giummarra (York Region Shooters)...Giummara 25 yard freekick low around wall on left, goalie Steve Cox dived left gets a piece of it but it trickles into corner.

81 min...CPSL GOAL Willy Giummarra...Giummarra taps bouncer from 10 yards into open net. Assist to Lucio Ianiero who loops a pass from left near end line around goalie.

Final Score:....CPSL All Stars.....2.....Canada's Development Team......1...

A very even game with the CPSL All Stars scoring near the end and hanging on. They wouldn't have played together before and the Canada team were probably strangers too.

The Canada starters were: (I'll put their ages where I usually type uniform numbers)

....................17 Steve Cox...................
28 Carl Fletcher....17 Victor Oppong....22 Marco Reda...26 Nevio Pizzolito
20 Adrian Serioux....17 Miles O'Connor....17 Toli Dasteridis....18 Jordan Gillespie
18 Semir Mesancvic....22 Dwayne DeRosario

Subs actually used:...17 Adrian Llewellyn...17 Jamie Dodds

Affiliation listed:
National Training Center (NTC) Cox, Oppong, Dodds, Llewellyn.
Toronto Lynx...Reda and Serioux (both also NTC)
Hampton Roads...Fletcher
Richmond Kickers...Pizzolito, DeRosario (also NTC)
Lille France...O'Connor (also NTC)
Darlington England...Dasteridis (also NTC)
Saskatoon...Gillespie
London City (CPSL)...Mesancvic (also NTC) he played against All Star teammates.

A great step to credibility for the CPSL who put together a team with no one from their two best teams Toronto Olympians and Toronto Croatia playing each other in the League Cup Final at 3pm.

Attendance was about 130 but picked up for the League Cup Final to about 450 to 500 as the afternoon wore on.

The Direct Kicks soccer crew were filming hilights and interviews so you may see this footage squeezed into their fall/winter 'reruns' replacing older material.
