Friday's game from Etobicoke Centennial Stadium 7:35pm August 5th

                        1 Bob Ammann
16 Zak Ibsen 5 Michael N'Doumbe 23 Arturo Velazco 2 Danny Pena

                        3 Paul Wright

Toronto Rockets (blue socks, shorts, shirts,
white numbers)

                        1 Pat Onstad
6 Dino Lopez 10 Tony Nochita 5 Jens Kraemer 3 Jack Copetti
8 Lucio Ianiero 2 Carl Fletcher 13 Patrick Sullivan 7 Billy Dalombo
20 Gino Diflorio 9 Ivica Raguz

ref Jose Farez, linesmen Bosa and Mortimer, 4th Bainbridge

New Head Coach for the Rockets is Hector Marinaro Sr who was/is the
General Manager and new Assistant Coaches Jens Kraemer and Tony Nocita.
Hmm player/asst coaches. They replace Peter Felicetti and Assistant
Luigi Caruso.

1st Half
16 min LA sub 18 Rhett Hardy replaces Guerra who was injured and had to
be carried off by two making like a ski lift so his legs wouldn't touch
the ground. He'd hurt his left leg and the team didn't take any
chances. Guerra watched the rest of the game from the bench.
19 min LA yellow to Hardy for hacking defender in Rocket crease. Only
three minutes to make his presense felt!
36 min Toronto yellow??? to Kraemer for knocking over LA goalie on
corner kick (although he may have just got off with a warning).
"37.48" LA GOAL Wright kicks in cross from five yards. Assist given to
Lazano who set him up with a 15 yard pass.

Summary: Salsa looked like the glamour team of the league and Rockets
couldn't really get a clear shot on net.

2nd Half
45 min Tor sub 17 Velemir Crijen replaces Dalombo
51 min LA yellow N'Doumbe for backtackle on Raguz
60 min LA sub 21 Brad Smith replaces Hardy
61 min LA yellow Velazco for criticising linesman for not flagging
"offside" on a trap that didn't quite work.
72 min Toronto sub 14 Joseph Majcher replaces Sullivan! Geez Sullivan
looked like their best player.
"85.46" LA GOAL Smith scores on a huge rebound coughed up by Onstad.
Either of Smith or another player had an easy tap in from 7 yards.
"87.10" Toronto GOAL DiFlorio scores on high shot alone on goal after
offside trap fails.
89 min Tor yellow Fletcher for complaining about Paulinho being awarded
a free kick after another 'fall'. Paulinho seemed to have a 50 yard
warranty between fall/trip/push.

Summary: Rockets were transformed into Brazil in the last 30 minutes
attacking in wave after wave. The Salsa looked scared and the goalie
and defenders often cleared it out of bounds to relieve the pressure.
(Un?)like Brazil though, they couldn't finish with a goal until the
very end.

Attendance: my estimate is 1100. Weather was so cold I thought it was
October!

Final: Los Angeles Salsa 2 (get 8 points for that, 6 to win, 1 for
each goal)
Toronto Rockets 1 (get 1 point for their goal)

Toronto is falling deeper into the 7th place basement as they're now 2
wins 6 losses with 40% of the season gone.

Next games: Friday August 12 at home to Fort Lauderdale Strikers
Wednesday Aug 17 at home to Vancouver 86ers

Toronto Alumni: Former Toronto Blizzard player Paul Peschisolido was
transferred from Birmingham to Stoke City. His fiance is Carol Brady
the CEO of Birmingham. Heard that on The Fan 1430am radio this morning.
