from Sports Report Service

TORONTO---Elvis Thomas scored two goals and 19-year old Paul Stalteri registered a goal and an assist as the Toronto Lynx rallied past the Raleigh Flyers 4-2 at Varsity Stadium Sunday.

The Lynx, winners of three straight, scored two goals in the first and two in the second, after Raleigh had scored just minutes into each half.

Carson White's fast break in the 8th minute gave the Flyers a 1-0 lead, but Thomas' header from six yards out in the 33rd minute and Stalteri's left footer from 12 yards in the 40th minute gave the Lynx the halftime edge. Stalteri has scored four goals in the Lynx' last three games.

A mix-up-in the Lynx defense allowed the Flyers Alberto Montoya to tap in a shot from just inside the penalty area in the 54th minute.

Thomas notched the game-winner on a header from about two yards out, sending home a cross from Michele Gioia.

Luca Centurione provided the final edge with a penalty kick in the 87th minute, after the linesman had called the referee over to the sideline to discuss a foul in the penalty area. As a result of the foul, the Flyers Dan Cagle was red carded for dangerous play, while teammate Kevin Scott was ejected for dissent.
