BRANTFORD GALAXY AND FC HAMILTON CROATIA SUFFER FIRST SEASON DEFEATS......... TFC Academy defeat winless Brampton Lions and Toronto Croatia win a cliffhanger

Brantford Galaxy collapsed 5-2 to North York Astros and FC Hamilton Croatia went down 3-0 to York Region Shooters for the two defeats, while in other Sunday action TFC Academy won 2-1 over Brampton Lions and Toronto Croatia defeated Montreal Academy 3-2.

Striker Kadian Lecky opened the scoring at 36 minutes for York Region Shooters in their home victory at Maple, just north of Toronto, he collected a cross from Desi Humphry close to the 6 yard line to push the ball past Hamilton Croatia goalkeeper Cameron McKay. The goal came after Lecky missed a penalty at the 21st minute mark and the score stood 1-0 at the interval.

Well into a hard-fought second half, Zeko Iron increased the Shooters lead to 2-0 at the 84th minute mark and Lecky struck his second and his fifth of the season at 91 minutes for a 3-0 win in favour of York Region.

York Region Shooters increase their lead at the top of the CSL First Division with a 5-2-1 WLT record for 16 points, five in front of North York Astros and Brantford Galaxy.

North York Astros looked strong in their impressive 5-2 defeat of the Galaxy at Esther Shiner Stadium in North York and were led by two first half goals by forward Kohbad Mahyar who found the net at 26 and 33 minutes for his fifth and sixth goals of the season.

Midfielder Erik Grigore increased the Astros lead to 3-0 at 36 minutes and Drazan Yukovic struck for the Galaxy at 42 minutes for a 3-1 lead by the home team at the interval.

Brantford defender Nyema-Patric Gerhardt was dismissed at the 60th minute mark when referee Hassane Rafai pulled the red card for Serious Foul Play.

Astros' midfielder Mohamed Aborig increased the lead to 4-1 at 66 minutes, Alexandre Oran made it 5-1 at 77 minutes and Galaxy forward Ranko Golijanin cut the lead to 5-2 in favour of North York at 88 minutes, the final score.

It's the third win of the season for North York Astros, they have just one loss in six games with a 3-1-2 record for 11 points to occupy an upper position in the standings and one of their best starts to a season in recent times. Brantford Galaxy also have 11 points from a 3-1-2 record.

Toronto Croatia scored a 3-2 victory in a cliffhanger at Centennial Stadium in Etobicoke, scoring at the 97th minute just when the game was about to end at 2-2 against Montreal Impact Academy.

Croatia defender Sven Arapovic headed past Montreal goalkeeper Maxime Crepeau with just seconds to the final whistle for the win and the goal came shortly after the home side were reduced to 10 men following the send-off of forward Tihomir Maletic at 95 minutes.

The Academy side opened the scoring at 41st minutes on a goal by Bonheur Aubey for a 1-0 lead at the interval and Toronto Croatia midfielder Ivan Zgele scored the first of two goals at 51 minutes to tie the game 1-1 and at 71 minutes for a 2-1 Croatia lead.

Montreal's Guillaume Heroux tied the game 2-2 at 91 minutes and Arapovic's winner came six minutes later, 3-2 in favour of Toronto Croatia.

A late goal that appeared to be an own goal by Brampton Lions at 81 minutes handed that team a 2-1 loss against TFC Academy at Victoria Park in Brampton. The goal came from a back pass to the goalkeeper, found the net and was awarded to TFC’s Allando Matheson.

Brampton opened the scoring at 27 minutes on a goal by midfielder Andrew Da Silva and Matheson tied the game 1-1 on a goal from a penalty kick at 46 minutes.

Brampton lost Liam Martin on a red card and TFC Academy's Nicolas Lindsay was also ejected from the game on receiving a second yellow, both occured in the second half.

The win is TFC Academy's third of the season for a 3-3-2 record for 11 points, while the Lions are still searching for their first win in 7 games.
