KAMENDY WINNER LIFTS ST. CATHARINES ..........2-1 home victory over Brampton Lions

A winning goal by midfielder Stefan Kamendy gave St. Catharines Wolves a much needed 2-1 victory over Brampton Lions at Club Roma, St. Catharines, in the only CSL game played Wednesday night.

Both teams are battling to move away from the lower positions in the CSL First Division standings and the home team took the lead after 29 minutes when forward Simon Murphy moved in from the left of the Brampton goal to put the ball past Lions goalkeeper Roy Blanche from close range.

It was an even contest to half-time when just before the interval Brampton tied the score when forward Judah Hernandez broke though inside the box to beat St. Catharines 'keeper Claudio Perri inside the 6 yard line.

St. Catharines had several opportunities in the second half, two by Carlo Arghittu, but it was Kamendy who struck the winner at 77 minutes when he headed into the net from a left wing corner kick.

The win lifted St. Catharines Wolves out of the cellar position to tie on points for 11th spot with Brampton Lions, each have a 7 points, St. Catharines with a 2-7-1 WLT record, while Brampton are at 2-8-1, and London City are squeezed to the foot of the standings.
