August 30, 2010 CSL--Toronto Croatia vs TFC Academy (from CSL website)

TRISTAN JACKMAN'S FIRST MINUTE STRIKE SPELLS VICTORY FOR TFC....now second in the table 2010-08-30

A first shot on goal decided the game when TFC Academy defeated Toronto Croatia 1-0 in a rare Monday night game in the CSL, played at Centennial Stadium in Etobicoke.

TFC forward Tristan Jackman struck from 22 yards, a drive that appeared to catch Croatia goalkeeper Sandi Matika off guard at the 1 minute mark of a game rescheduled from the game abandoned in the first half on August 15.

There was attractive soccer from both teams as the game progressed and while the academy team appeared to have an edge during the first half, Toronto Croatia looked strong as the game went deep into the second half but poor finishing prevented the home side from scoring.

Croatia's Ainsley Deer sent the ball over the bar from 4 yards when it appeared easier to find the net at one late stage and set plays by Croatia also ended with high projectory drives that had little chance of scoring.

TFC Academy's three points from the narrow 1-0 victory moved the team into second position in the table with a 9-4-5 WLT record for 32 points, while Toronto Croatia are at a respectable 5-3-6 with 24 points from only 15 games played
