FC HAMILTON CROATIA IN FAVOURED TOP FOUR FOLLOWING 1-0 VICTORY.......Brampton Lions Reserves win CSL Reserve Division

A goal by FC Hamilton Croatia midfielder Jamie Dodds was enough to give his team victory over North York Astros and in the CSL Reserve Division, Brampton Lions Reserves took the league title with a 2-1 over Milltown FC Reserves.

Dodds collected the ball following a scramble in the penalty box and chipped the ball over the oncoming North York goalkeeper at the 34th minute mark to score from inside the 6 yard line.

The win elevated Hamilton Croatia to third position in the standings with an opportunity to be one of the favoured top four when the playoffs come around in less than two weeks. The top four of the eight teams entering the playoffs for the CSL championship will have first option of playing the first leg of the home and away two-game quarterfinal series at home or away. The top four will also earn the home draw for the one-game semifinal.

FC Hamilton Croatia have a 12-6-5 WLT record for 41 points with one game remaining in their regular season schedule, a clash with Milltown FC at Brian Timmis Stadium on Tuesday.

North York Astros have struggled most of the second half of the season following a promising start and end the season with a 5-16-3 record for 18 points. They are out of the playoff picture in 11th position.

Brampton Lions Reserves, known as Brampton Dixie Lions following their affiliation with e Dixie Soccer Club, captured the CSL Reserve Division Saturday, a day that marked the end of the regular season schedule.

Brampton Reserves defeated Milltown FC in the final game for a 11-3-1 season record for 34 points, including an impressive six-game winning streak to finish the season.

The finish was remarkable considering the loss of nine players to their U.S. colleges in August. Michael DiMatteo, head coach of Brampton Lions Reserves was elated at the outcome.

"We had good depth this year and were able to have players step in at the end of the season. I'm really proud of them and all of our players who contributed to this. We look forward to the playoffs and we'll be giving it everything to win the Reserve Division championship,", he said.

There are four games in the CSL First Division on Sunday when TFC Academy host York Region Shooters at Lamport Stadium, that's at 2 pm, St. Catharines Wolves visit the Bishop Reding ground in Milton for an encounter with Milltown FC at 4, Brantford Galaxy are at home to Serbian White Eagles at Lions Park a 7 pm kickoff and Toronto Croatia and Brampton Lions pursue the last playoff berth at Centennial Stadium, that's at 8.15 pm.
