Attendance was about 125 on this warm evening and that number shrank to about 1/3 by the end of the game.
Sun Devils had the run of play in the first half but couldn't get enough shots on net to bury the Wolves. The second half was more even but that's when Sun Devils hit their goals.
Since Willy Giumerra is now on the Sun Devils it means the "Free Stylers" are back together because teammate Richie Lissone and him team up to do exhibition demonstrations of soccer skills/tricks like the Harlem Globetrotters do for basketball.
Wolves goalie Claudio Perri is the younger brother of long time Wolves keeper Dino Perri. Dino moved on to the Hamilton Thunder this year and Claudio told me he was grateful for the opportunity. He was the star of tonight's game with some brilliant saves. Wolves are in the middle of a busy week having played against the York Region Shooters at home 4-4 on Wednesday night and then have another home game on Sunday afternoon when they play an exhibition against the A-League Toronto Lynx.
Sun Devils Rob Tilley earned the shutout and had to make some key stops in the second half to preserve the win.
Referee Manuel Orellano gave out only one Yellow card tonight.
This game was taped for rebroadcast on Rogers Community Channel in the York Region and Barrie Saturday at 2:00pm. Guest colour commentator was Sun Devils Bobby Randhawa who was not playing because of an injured left knee.
