Final Score: Hamilton Thunder 2 North York Astros 2

Highlights:
The game started under threatening skies and the weather would be patchy throughout. Hamilton had most of the play early on, with long balls through to HT DeSerpa, who eventually capitalised on an excellent run. This quick goal shook the Astros, who started to commit numerous fouls. In the 20th minute, HT Cardenas lined up for a free kick from well outside the 18 yard box. His drive curled around the wall and past a surprised Astros keeper. Tremendous goal! As the half drew to a close, the Astros upped the pace. A nice move through the midfield saw NYA Flores receive the ball and slot it past the HT keeper and into the back of the net. The second half started much like the first, with a little more chippy play. Both teams pushed but could not capitalise. Off a botched corner kick, NYA Zorbas drilled home a thundering shot from inside the 18. The final moments of the game were tense with both teams pushing forward but neither could get that winning goal.

Players to watch: HT Denny Velastegui, NYA Peter Zorbas, NYA keeper, HT Stalin Cardenas

Players to avoid: HT David Simpson, NYA coach

Commentary:
Another very interesting Thunder home game. The crowd was fairly large even with the bad weather forecast. The pace of the game was brilliant with many attacks and quick counter attacks from both sides. Hamilton relied a lot early on the long ball and trying to get DeSerpa the ball. However, this exposed Hamilton's midfield and let the Astros take some of the midfield control, especially in the second half. As the game progressed the Astros had many quality chances only to be let down by their finishing. The crowd was also nicely vocal, partly due to the weather and partly because the game was actually fun. With time winding down, the Thunder threw everything at the Astros but could not find the winning goal. All in all, a well fought draw. Also, the ref kept the pace of the game up and tried to let play continue whenever possible.

Cheers,
Lazyboy.
