Syracuse improves to 2-0 in A-League with 1-0 win over Toronto

TORONTO (CP) - Lars Lysand scored in the 66th minute as the Syracuse Salty Dogs defeated the Toronto Lynx 1-0 in an A-League soccer game Wednesday afternoon before 3,572 on School Day.

The loss dropped the Lynx record to 1-2 and marks the first time in the club's history they have lost their first two matches at home to start the season. Syracuse improved to 2-0 in its inaugural season. The two clubs will meet again Saturday night in Syracuse in the Salty Dogs' home opener. Syracuse went ahead when Nikki Vignjevic was stripped of the ball trying to clear the ball after a Salty Dog corner kick, and Lysand beat an outstretched Theo Zagar.

Toronto substitute Ali Ngon fired the ball past Syracuse 'keeper Paul Nagy in the final seconds of the match, but the goal was called back on an offside call.
