Attendance was announced as 1594 here at the end of this holiday Victoria Day weekend. Since this was not a holiday for Americans, the number of travelling Rhino fans was much smaller than usual. This park held a fireworks display but it was the previous night.
It was important that the Lynx get a result from this game to give them a boost of confidence. Once they were playing down a man from 73 minutes on, their chances are trying for the win were quite restricted. I thought this game was playing out like the Anaheim vs Minnesota NHL series. The Lynx/Wild couldn't score for their last three games and then score early in the fourth game but lose 2-1. I'm glad I was wrong. Lynx have to hope that a lot of their rivals start tieing each other because only two of the five teams in their division make the playoffs. For an offensive strategy I noticed that the team was lined up in last year's 3-5-2 formation rather than this year's 4-4-2.
The Rochester radio guy broadcast the fact the Lynx have a winning record vs the Rhinos in Toronto but the Rhinos are almost unbeaten in Rochester in their seven years of battles. The Toronto newspapers were missing from the booth tonight. We probably won't see the Toronto Star again this year but hopefully Mike Koreen of the Toronto Sun will be back getting quotes from the Lynx players but not to fire up the other teams. His last article was an inspiration to Syracuse.
This game marked the home debut of young defender Tyler Hughes who didn't look out of place when brought in as a substitute. Brian Ashton had a good game when brought in cold off the bench. Ryan Lucas was rated by us as the CAW Blue Collar Award for the hardest working Lynx player tonight for his goal and running throughout the night.
