Match Summary: The Toronto Lynx had a disappointing end to a 3-game U.S. road trip in Atlanta today. The Lynx were overpowered 4-2 by a tough Silverbacks team who secured their first win of the season, improving their record to 1-3-4. After starting the trip with a victory in Virginia Beach and a draw in Charlotte, the loss drops the Lynx record to 2-4-2 on the season. David DiPlacido opened the scoring for the Lynx in the 14th minute, however, Atlanta countered with four unanswered goals to lock up the win before Josue Mayard could notch his first goal in Toronto colours in the 77th minute, making the final score Atlanta 4 - Toronto 2. Velko Iotov was the offensive star for the Silverbacks with two goals on the night. Singles went to John Barry Nusum, giving him a team leading 4 goals on the season, and Carlos Parra who scored on a penalty kick. The Lynx will now take on the Montreal Impact in a home-and-home series next weekend, starting on Friday, June 6th at 7:30 in Montreal and concluding on Sunday, June 8th at 4:00 at Centennial Park Stadium in Toronto when the Lynx celebrate the growing power of women in soccer with their Girl Power Day.
