Match Summary: The Toronto Lynx grabbed a share of the Voyageurs Cup lead and gained a valuable 3-points in dramatic fashion in Montreal tonight. Despite trailing late in the match, the Lynx players never gave in and were rewarded with a penalty kick in the 90th minute when Ali Ngon was fouled in the box, much to the disbelief of the largest crowd in Impact history. Ngon calmly converted the penalty, sending the game to overtime. In the first overtime period, the Lynx spoiled the Impact's undefeated home record when David DiPlacido's shot was stopped by Impact 'keeper Greg Sutton but the rebound fell to Ngon who slid the ball into the open net for the game winner. The win moves the Lynx record to 7-9-3 giving them 24 points on the season and snaps a 3-game losing streak. It also improves their record to 3-1-0 in the Voyageurs Cup, tied for the lead with the Impact. Calgary and Vancouver round out the Voyageurs Cup field having failed to record a point. The Impact took the lead on Eduardo Sebrango's goal in the 33rd minute, but the Lynx battled back and were given a penalty in the 49th minute that was converted by midfielder Nikki Vignjevic, his third goal on the season. Substitute Sita-Taty Matondo put Montreal back in front in the 72nd minute and the Impact looked set to send the crowd home happy before Ngon's late game heroics. The Lynx showed tremendous fighting spirit and 'keeper Theo Zagar kept the game within reach with several great saves allowing the come-from-behind win. The three goal performance was the Lynx best offensive output this season and Ngon's 2-goals give him a team leading 7 on the season. The Lynx return to action at home next week with their annual Youth Day on Wednesday, July 23rd at 12pm versus the Atlanta Silverbacks and Carib Fest on Friday, July 25th at 7:30pm versus the Charleston Battery.
