Final Score:........Toronto Lynx...........0................Pittsburgh Riverhounds.........3......

Attendance was announced as 3023 on this hot breezy evening. That seemed like an exageration but it was a big crowd for an also ran team that can't score at home. Lynx did have six subs for this game so they had more player choices.

Usual Lynx captain Theo Zagar was not the starting goalie tonight. Brian Rowland was shaky but could not be blamed on any goal and helped keep the score down. The Lynx chose David DiPlacido as the captain tonight as Brian Ashton was not a starter neither. Lynx starting forwards Ryan Lucas and Sebastian Barclay were ineffective. Next season, the club might as well give their jobs to some mediocre Canadians for a year until they get snapped up by some lower division Scandanavian team. Josue Mayard was moved up to midfield and looked pretty good on wing. Newcomer Jonathan Westmaas got the start in midfield and played well in the one half he got to play.

Riverhounds goalie Randy Dedini earned the shutout without having to make anything but routine saves.

The Manchester United fan club was had a table near the entrance recruiting members and giving away a few prizes in a lucky draw. Tonight was Multicultural Night with talent supplied by CHIN radio. Miss CHIN Bikini and her male equivalent took the opening kickoff to the Lynxster. The Coro Italia L'Aquila provided singing in Italian known by me as "Hey that's the one on the Pizza commercial and that one was in the Bugs Bunny cartoon". It's still hard to get used to not seeing Johnny Lombardi after so many years.

The Riverhounds have now one 9 of their last 10 games as they continue to chase Rochester Raging Rhinos for the last playoff spot in the division. They had a crew of four for their radio broadcast. We don't need them promoting our city. They announced that the other wing of the hotel they were staying at turned their air conditioning off to conserve energy because Toronto still has not recovered from the blackout and the subway is still not running. (Actually all of this is true plus we had it phoned in that the CNE wouldn't open until Tuesday so the Lynx won't be in their booth tomorrow!) Still, I want Rochester to win the spot. There isn't a Toronto media contingient, it's all fringe media like me. The mainstream media don't even run the stories when they're handfed the press releases.

Also the Riverhounds crew had the inside scoop that the stadium lights wouldn't be turned on tonight (another energy concession) but there wasn't much danger of there having to be an overtime period.
