SUPRA DEFEATS TORONTO CROATIA -- AGAIN

Craig Patton scored twice for Metro Lions before a severe thunderstorm washed out the game with Vaughan Shooters at Birchmount Stadium.

Toronto Supra forward Michael Diluca led his team with two goals to a well-earned 3-1 victory over Toronto Croatia at Centennial Stadium in Etobicoke Thursday and in one other game scheduled in the Canadian Professional Soccer League, Metro Lions led Vaughan Shooters 2-0 at half-time when the game was abandoned due to a severe thunderstorm in Scarborough where the game was being played at Birchmount Stadium.

Diluca scored his third and fourth of the season, the first coming at 28 minutes for a 1-0 half-time score and his second at 61 minutes to put Supra ahead, 2-0.

Supra went 3-0 in front on a goal at 63 minutes by midfielder Sebastian Busto, before Willy Giammarra scored for Toronto Croatia on a free kick at 85 minutes, a 3-1 final score

The game was almost a carbon copy of Toronto Supra’s 3-1 win over Toronto Croatia on June 11 when Michael Diluca also found the net twice in that game and Willy Giammarra scored Croatia’s lone goal from a penalty kick.

As a result of the win, Supra improve to 2-0-2 WLT for 8 points and third position in the Eastern Conference, while Toronto Croatia are still at the foot of the Western Conference with a 1-3-1 record for 4 points.

Metro Lions took a 2-0 first-half lead at Birchmount Stadium on goals by Craig Patton, but his effort was of no avail when monsoon-like weather struck the southern part of Scarborough where a deluge of rain caused the game to be abandoned.

The game is considered incomplete and will be rescheduled to be played at a later date.
