Attendance was around 300 to 400 when the game started. Vaughan had a function for their youth clubs and were saluting their winning teams for much of the game. It kept most of the crowd of kids until the end. This was at least double their usual attendance. This season, the Ontario Soccer Centre is the home field of both the Shooters and the Astros. Neither team usually plays Saturday night home games.
The game could have gone either way although the Shooters had the better chances but misfired on most of their chances in the first half. Most of the play was carried on in the Astros end throughout the game. Goaltender Brian Bowes earned the shutout for the Shooters with pretty routine saves. The Astros goalie Dario Ferreyra was successful in his rushing to the edge of box or even outside it to clear through balls until the last twenty minutes of the game. A player on the Shooters yelled "Now the floodgames open" after the first goal. With the Astros having to open up after they got behind, it resulted in the Shooters having even more chances. Despite the actual goalscorers, the most dangerous Shooters players were Joey Todaro and Mathew Polleschi with the most dangerous rushes and shots on net.
