THUNDER, BLUE DEVILS REMAIN UNBEATEN THURSDAY
Thursday - June 23, 2005

Two teams with a 100 per cent record came together at Brian Timmis Stadium in Hamilton to record a scoreless tie in a well-played encounter, the only game in the Canadian Professional Soccer League Thursday.

Both Hamilton Thunder and Oakville Blue Devils met with some anticipation that one would suffer its first defeat, but as Thunder general manager Paul Ferguson put it following the final whistle: “Neither team deserved to lose this game tonight,” he commented after explaining that the game was controlled in the midfield with few serious opportunities for a breakthrough by either team.

It’s the fourth game of the season for Hamilton and remarkably, they have yet to concede a goal in league or cup play due in part to the impressive performance of goalkeeper Robbie Ferrari, a 22 year-old Woodbridge native who was earlier this year on trial in Portugal. Before Thursday’s game, Hamilton and Ferrari shutout Durham Storm 1-0 on June 4, St. Catharines Wolves 2-0 on June 8 and Border Stars 1-0 on June 11.
