VAUGHAN SHOOTERS REACH LAST EIGHT
Monday - July 4, 2005

A goal late in the second half by Vaughan Shooters’ attacking midfielder Jason De Thomasis was enough to put his team into the last eight of the Open Canada Cup Monday.

Vaughan defeated Toronto Supra by a 1-0 score at Brockton Stadium in Toronto, the last game to be played in the competition’s Second Round.

De Thomasis found the net following a physical encounter which saw three players ejected, two for Serious Foul Play. They were Marc Jankovic of Toronto Supra at 32 minutes, Justin Phillips of Shooters at the 61st minute mark and Stalin Cardenas, also of Vaughan Shooters at the 81st minute mark following a second yellow card.
