LONDON CITY MARCH ON
JUMP FIVE POINTS CLEAR WITH BEST START IN YEARS
Wednesday - July 6, 2005

London City continued its best start for several years with a 3-0 well-deserved victory over St. Catharines Wolves at Club Roma, St. Catharines, the only game played in the Canadian Professional Soccer League Wednesday.

Following a scoreless tie at the interval, City began to take charge as the second half progressed and it was no surprise when the team from southwestern Ontario took a 1-0 lead at the 68th minute mark. The goal came when Shawn Ord beat Wolves’ goalkeeper Claudio Perri, and Perri was again beaten 15 minutes later when Erik Elmauer made it 2-0 for London. The third goal came from Keith Andrew who made the final score 3-0 for London City at the 89th minute mark.

London City now have a 5-2-0 WLT record for 15 points and they jump five points clear of their nearest rivals Oakville Blue Devils in the Western Conference, while St. Catharines remain in fifth position having lost their fourth regular league game for a 2-4-1 record, good for 7 points.

London City are also in the last eight of the Open Canada Cup, having defeated the Blue Devils 3-1 in the Second Round on July 1.
