LAST EIGHT IN OPEN CANADA CUP ON CIVIC HOLIDAY WEEKEND

The last surviving eight, including three amateur clubs, will resume Open Canada Cup play with the Third Round on Saturday, July 30 for four games through the Civic Holiday long weekend to Monday, August 1.

Amateur squads London AEK, Benfica of Toronto and Ottawa Royals come together with five survivors from the Canadian Professional Soccer League to bid for a semi-final spot and final to be played during the Labour Day weekend in September.

Border Stars, the defending Open Canada Cup winners looking to repeat are at home to AEK of London, while London City, which won this competition in 2003, are at home to Brampton Stallions. Vaughan Shooters are at their favoured location against nearby Benfica from the west end of Toronto, while Laval Dynamites have a home draw at the new Bois-de-Boulogne Stadium at Laval for a tilt with amateur team Ottawa Royals from the capital city.
