BORDER STARS ROMP 5-0 OVER DURHAM

Border Stars scored five unanswered goals to register their second victory of the season, a 5-0 shutout of Durham Storm at Windsor Stadium, the only game played in the Canadian Professional Soccer League Saturday.

The win was never in doubt after Border Star’s midfielder David Dwaihy took a pass from Jeff Hodgson to open the scoring at the 39th minute mark and Marcus Chorvat made it 2-0 four minutes later.

Aaron Byrd struck the border team’s third goal just one minute after the interval after he collected a pass from Chorvat and midfielder Jeremy Harkins made it 4-0 at the 68th minute mark.

Tati Errecalde rounded out the scoring when he beat Durham Storm ‘keeper Craig Williams with just 10 minutes remaining, for a final 5-0 score.

Border Stars improve to a 3-6-1 WLT record for 10 points and fifth in the Western Conference standings, while Durham settle for a split weekend after defeating London City 3-2 Friday and now stand at 1-7-2 for 5 points at the foot of the Eastern Conference.
