TORONTO CROATIA BACK ON TOP

It took Toronto Croatia just 24 hours to regain the top position in the Eastern Conference standings of the Canadian Professional Soccer League following a crowd-pleaser, but decisive encounter at Windsor Stadium Saturday, which finished 3-0 in favour of the visitors.

Toronto Croatia were dislodged from the top position by Vaughan Shootes on Friday night, a 2-0 result over North York Astros that put the City above Toronto team temperorily on top.

Croatia went ahead after just 2 minutes when defender Antonijo Zupan put the ball past Anthony Santilli in the Border Stars' net and Hayden Fitzwilliams made it 2-0 for Croatia at the 42nd minute mark. Following a 2-0 score at half-time, Andrija Botica scored Croatia's third for a 3-0 score at 67 minutes, and this turned out to be the final score.

Border Stars' midfielder Marcus Chorvat was shown a second yellow card by referee Vito Curalli at the 80th minute mark,for the only ejection in the game

Toronto Croatia have lost just one game in 11 with a 7-1-3 WLT record for 24 points, good enough to lead the Eastern Conference by three points over Vaughan Shooters. Border Stars are in a slump, having lost 7 games and now have a 3-7-1 record for 10 points which keeps the border team at the foot of the Western Conference.

WOMEN'S CANADA CUP RESUMES ON SUNDAYThere are four CPSL games slated for Sunday. Brampton Stallions are at home to Durham Storm at 4 p.m., London City will travel to Oakville for a game with the Blue Devils at 6, the Astros are at home to Shooters at 7 and St. Catharines Wolves will travel The Queen Elizabeth Way for game with Toronto Supra at Brockton Stadium in Toronto's west-end, also at 7.

The Women's Canada Cup resumes with two games, both at 5 o'clock. North York District Allstars will host York Region Lady Shooters at Esther Shiner Stadium and Toronto Supra District Allstars are at home to Durham Region Allstars. Both games are followed by their respective CPSL game.
