Soccer Stallions storm Durham

Brampton Stallions took advantage of a depleted Durham Storm line-up and got a pair of victories this week in the Canadian Professional Soccer League.

On Sunday at Victoria Park Stadium the Stallions needed only 22 minutes to build a 4-0 lead when the game was abandoned.

Durham, because of injury and suspensions started the game with the minimum of eight players. An injury to the visitor's goalkeeper meant the team could not continue the match.

Midfielders Mladen Dikic and Adolfo Mella each scored two goals for the Stallions who improved their record to 4-4-4 and sit in fifth place in the Western Conference. Brampton and fourth-place St. Catharines Wolves have 16 points each but St. Catharines has one more win.

Stallions though are only two points behind third-place London City and have two games in hand and is only four points out of second place.

Durham is struggling and is last in the Eastern Conference with a 1-10-1 record with just seven goals scored and 37 allowed, both totals the worst in the league.

On Friday on the road the Stallions played a full game to defeat the Storm, which dressed 11 players 4-0. Adam Pachso and Alex Morrison had two goals each for the Stallions.

Pachso scored at 2 minutes and at the 60th minute mark. Morrison connected at seven minutes and the 26th minute mark.

The Stallions will try to keep their momentum going on Sunday when they play host to the Toronto Supra at 7 p.m. at Victoria Park. The Supra is fifth in the East with a 3-5-3 record and 12 points.
