CROATIA HELD TO 1-1 TIE WHILE WEATHER WIPES OUT THREE WEEKEND GAMES
Friday - August 12, 2005

Toronto Croatia were held to a 1-1 tie by a determined Toronto Supra at Streetsville Memorial Park in Mississauga, the only game of three played in the Canadian Professional Soccer League Friday when two games were wiped out by the weather.

Toronto Croatia forward Leo Laurito opened the scoring with a quick goal just 60 seconds into the first half, but Supra's Daniel Nascimento put the ball past George Azcurra in the Croatia goal to tie the game 1-1, the score at the final whistle.

Robert Fran of Toronto Croatia and Carlos Zeballos of Supra were both ejected at the 60th minute mark for Violent Conduct.

Croatia maintain their position at the top of the Eastern Conference with a 7-1-4 WLT record, five points in front of Vaughan Shooters, while Toronto Supra pick up a valuable point and now have a 3-5-4 record for 13 points in fourth position in the east.

Weather played havoc with the weekend schedule with three games--two Friday and one on Sunday--wiped out. They are the London City vs. St. Catharines Wolves game at Cove Road in London and the Durham Storm vs. Oakville Blue Devils game scheduled for the Civic Stadium in Oshawa, both on Friday, and the Oakville Blue Devils vs. Hamilton Thunder game scheduled for Sunday. All off due to wet conditions.
