RHINOS BEAT LYNX 2-0RHINOS BEAT LYNX 2-0

(Rochester, NY)...The Rochester Raging Rhinos used two first-half goals to defeat the Toronto Lynx 2-0 in preseason action at East Rochester High School on Saturday.

The Rhinos maintained possession of the ball for most of the first half, but could not get any quality scoring chances. Finally in the 18th minute, Rhinos defender Jason Perry beat Lynx goalkeeper Richard Goddard in the air to put the home team up 1-0. The Rhinos would come back down near the Toronto goal a few minutes later as forward Ian Fuller found himself open with the ball in front of the Lynx goal. Fuller buried a shot into the back of the net in the 23rd minute to double the Rhinos lead 2-0.

The first half would end with the Lynx outshooting the Rhinos 10-8. Although Toronto had four corner kicks in the half, the Lynx could not put a quality chance on Rochester goalkeeper Scott Vallow.

The second half saw both teams empty their benches with substitutions. Neither team would put the ball into the goal for the rest of the game. Vallow made two saves in goal for Rochester, while Goddard made five stops for the Lynx.

The win was the first for Rochester in the preseason. The Rhinos will be back on the field at East Rochester High School on Sunday at 4:00 p.m. to face the Hartwick Hawks. Admission is $5.00 at the gate.
