No goals

Game Notes:

Toronto almost gave up an embarrassing goal in just the second minute, as an innocent looking ball bouncing back to Theo Zagar was misjudged by the Lynx keeper, who let it go over his head. Zagar had to scramble to get back, sliding to clear the ball for a corner, before it rolled into the net.

Toronto's best chance of the first half was a partial breakaway by scoring star Ali Gerba at 18', but he fired wide.

Vancouver had a great chance to open scoring at 67' as Steve Klein twice blasted the ball at net from in close, but both efforts were blocked. The second rebound went to Alfredo Valente who headed it wide.

The keeper's were each credited with one save. Vancouver had six shots to Toronto's five.

Five players made their Whitecaps league debut: Steve Klein, Joey Gjertsen, Jake Sagare, Said Ali, and Liam de Silva.

The Whitecaps have not given up a goal in their last four home-openers.

Ironman Steve Kindel started at fullback, to play his 37th consecutive game for the club, dating back to 2003.

Following the game fans were treated to a spectacular post-game fireworks display.

This game counted towards the Voyageurs Cup standings, a fan-sponsored trophy given each year to the top professional team in Canada.
