Stallions, Supra also win

Serbian White Eagles, Brampton Stallions and Toronto Supra Portuguese all posted wins, while the Astros and London City played to a 1-1 draw and Oakville Blue Devils vs. Laval Dynamites ended with the same result in a busy schedule in the Canadian Soccer League Sunday.

Serbian White Eagles shutout Italia Shooters 4-0 at The Soccer Centre in Vaughan to regain top spot in the International Division. Forward Mihajlo Bacanin opened the scoring at three minutes and scored a second two minutes after the interval, while midfielder Bozo Milic also scored a pair, at 34 and 60 minutes. The Eagles maintain their 100 percent record with 12 wins for 36 points. Italia are at a5-4-4 record for 19 points.

Laval Dynamites took the lead over Oakville at Bronte Stadium on an opening goal at 16 minutes by forward Vladimir Edouard, his second in the two games played over the weekend. Blue Devils’ forward Petro Czol equalized at 28 minutes on a breakaway, finding the net when he put the ball out of reach of Laval goalkeeper Angelo Olivieri, a 1-1 final result. The Blue Devils now have 7-4-4 WLT record for 25 points at the top of the National Division, three in front of second place St. Catharines Wolves. Les Dynamites are at 4-7-5 for 17 points.

Brampton Stallions made amends for their 3-0 loss to Border Stars at the University of Windsor Saturday by winning 2-0 at Victoria Park in Brampton on Sunday. Brampton struck one in each half by George Silva and Michael Aigbokie for their win over Windsor and now have a 6-6-2 record for 20 points in the National Division. Border Stars also have 20 points with a 4-5-5 record.

Toronto Supra Portuguese picked up their second league win of the season, a 4-0 shutout of Caribbean Selects at Brockton Stadium in Toronto’s west-end. Michael Di Luca scored twice for Supra Portuguese at 8 and 65 minutes, while Alex Rafael (79 minutes) and Uarlem Castro (87 minutes) each scored singles. Supra Portuguese now have a 2-4-6 record for 12 points while Caribbean Selects, also in the International Division, are at 1-10-3 for six points.

North York Astros battled to a 1-1 draw with London City at Esther Shiner Stadium in North York, with midfielder Eugene Ishchak opening the score for the Astros at 29 minutes and Bernard Al-Chaar equalizing for the City at 65 minutes. Astros are at 3-6-4 for 13 points in the National Division, while London are at 2-8-5 for 11 points.
