Italia in playoffs

Italia Shooters secured third place in the International Conference with an emphatic 4-1 victory over North York Astros at The Soccer Centre Tuesday night, and in doing so gained the one remaining automatic playoff spot in that division to join Serbian White Eagles and Toronto Croatia.

These three teams, together with Oakville Blue Devils and Laval Dynamites from the National Conference, qualify for the quarter-finals of the championship rounds, to be joined during the next 10 days by the team finishing third in the National Conference and an additional two teams with the best record in the league standings, irrespective of the division in which they play.

Anthony Adur opened the scoring for Italia at 11 minutes and Joshua Jramillo added a second at 41 minutes for 2-0 score at half-time.

Adur struck his second and Italia’s third goal two minutes into the second half and Mario Gagliardi made it 4-0 twelve minutes later. Misiara Beleshi scored a consolation marker for the Astros at the 81st minute mark, a 4-1 final score.

Shooters improve to 8-5-8 WLT for 32 points, while North York Astros continue in sixth position in the National Division with a 3-9-8 record for 17 points.
