Saturday - September 23, 2006
Brampton in playoffs

Brampton Stallions clinched a playoff berth with a 3-1 victory over St. Catharines Wolves at Victoria Park Saturday night, and at the same time, Toronto Supra Portuguese kept their playoff hopes alive with a 3-0 defeat of Caribbean Selects at Birchmount Stadium.

St. Catharines and Windsor are tied on points, but that could change when Border Stars meet North York Astros for Windsor's final game on Sunday.

The win by Toronto Supra Portuguese puts the Toronto west-end team in a strong position to clinch a playoff spot. Supra Portuguese have 25 points with two games remaining, although one is against high-flying Serbian White Eagles.

Presently, Serbian White Eagles, Oakville Blue Devils, Toronto Croatia, Laval Dynamites, Italia Shooters and Brampton Stallions have secured playoff berths, leaving two spots available to be filled by Windsor Border Stars, St. Catharines Wolves or Toronto Supra Portuguese.

Jorge Da Silva put the Stallions ahead four minutes into the second half following a scoreless first half at Victoria Park, and St. Catharines tied the score 1-1 at 64 minutes when Nemanja Djukanovic struck from the penalty spot following a foul by Brampton ‘keeper Roy Blanche.

Andre de Andrade made it 2-1 for Brampton at 84 minutes and Marlon Dyke completed the scoring for the home side at 94 minutes, a 3-1 final.

Brampton’s Ruyan Williams was ejected at 88 minutes following an altercation with an opposing player.

Michael Di Luca at six minutes, Uarlem Castro at 16 minutes, his 13th of the season, and Ryan Sonte at 57 minutes were the scorers for Toronto Supra Portuguese in their 3-0 shutout of Caribbean Selects.

Supra Portuguese now have a 6-7-7 WLT record for 25 points in the International Division, with two games remaining in the regular season schedule.
