WHITE EAGLES WIN THIRD OF SEASON, CROATIA DOWNS CARIBBEAN 5-1 WHILE LONDON, SUPRA PORTUGUESE TIE 2-2

Serbian White Eagles won their third of the season with a narrow 2-1 defeat of North York Astros at Centennial Stadium, Toronto Croatia downed Caribbean Selects 5-1 at Memorial Park in Streetsville and London City played to a hard fought 2-2 tie with Toronto Supra Portuguese at The Cove in London, all three games played in the Canadian Soccer League Friday night.

White Eagles took the lead on a penalty kick awarded by Referee Steve De Piero at the 28th minute mark and forward Sasa Viciknez made no mistake from the spot. The Serbians went ahead 2-0 after 69 minutes on a goal by Mihajlo Bacanin and just when the it all looked like a comfortable victory North York Astros came back at 89 minutes with a strike by Peter Zorbas who drove the ball out of reach of White Eagles’ former Belgium First Division goalkeeper Dusan Belic, a 2-1 final score.

Toronto Croatia dominated the game at Memorial Park and led 5-0 late into the second half on goals by Peter Curic at 22 minutes, Hayden Fitzwilliams one minute later, Caswain Mason at the 56th minute mark and two goals by 20 year old striker Tommy Ples. Maxim Dorneval spoiled the shutout for Croatia goalkeeper George Azcurra with a goal at 89 minutes for a 5-1 final.

London City rescued a point from their home game with Toronto Supra Portuguese when midfielder Dennis Peeters struck at the 94th minute mark just before the final whistle. Mike Di Luca put the Portuguese side 1-0 up with a goal at 65 minutes, Erik Elmauer tied for London at 82 minutes, Di Luca scored his second at 87 minutes before Peeters found the net for the equalizer.
