Attendance was about 100 on this hot, humid, overcast evening. The crowd was mostly pro-Croatian although the Selects were the home team tonight. The Selects home is officially Birchmount Stadium but the re-opening of that stadium has been delayed from the first week of August to sometime later than that. These teams meet again tomorrow at Centennial Stadium at 7:00pm.
Selects goalie Ramon McIntosh had to be sharp to keep his team in the game for the first 80 minutes often facing attacks in-alone. Boris Maric and Peter Curic’s inaccurate shots also aided in keeping this game close. Mate Jurkin was the starting goalie for Toronto Croatia and didn’t have much to do. Regular goalie George Azcurra is serving a three game suspension.
