Friday - June 8, 2007
Byrd hits hat-trick

Aaron Byrd, the 26 year old striker with Windsor Border Stars, became the first CSL player to hit a hat-trick this season when his team dominated London City 5-0 at Cove Road in London, the only game played in the league Friday night.

Byrd, a former University of Detroit forward and a prominent player with Windsor since the border team stepped into professional soccer four years ago, struck at 7, 23 and 57 minutes to put the game well out of reach of the home side.

Radek Papiez at 32 minutes and forward Gino Berardi at 70 minutes scored the other goals for the visitors.

Windsor have a 2-3-0 WLT record following the win, while London City are winless at 0-2-1.

The two teams now travel to Chippewa Valley, Michigan for a return game Saturday at 7, the only game in the CSL that day. There are two games slated for Sunday when North York Astros are at home to Portuguese Supra, a 4 pm kickoff at Esther Shiner Stadium, and at The Soccer Centre in Vaughan, Italia Shooters are at home to Trois-Rivieres Attak, with a new kickoff time of 5.30 pm.
