Lecky leads Italia

Trois-Rivieres jumped to the top of the National Conference with a 2-1 victory over North York Astros, while Italia Shooters downed Portuguse Supra 4-1 and Serbian White Eagles enjoyed an easy 4-0 result over Windsor Border Stars, three games in the CSL Saturday.

The Attak, playing before a large crowd in ideal conditions in their first evening game of the season at the University of Quebec in Trois-Rivieres, took the lead after 15 minutes on a goal by forward Nicolas Lesage. Alpha Bah made it 2-0 at the 37th minute mark and Pasubio Seninara struck the lone Astros’ goal at 65 minutes for a 2-1 final.

The Attak move to top with a 4-3-2 WLT record for 14 points, while North York are at 3-4-1 for 10 points in the same National Conference.

Nicola Budalic opened the scoring for the White Eagles after just 8 minutes at Windsor Stadium and Milos Scepanovic made it 2-0 at the 25th minute mark. At 37 minutes Windsor goalkeeper Anthony Santilli fouled in the penalty box and Serbian striker Gabriel Pop made no mistake from the spot to make the score 3-0, which held to halftime.

Serbian White Eagles continued to dominate in the second half - but for top saves by Santilli the score could have been much higher. Serbia did break through at 52 minutes, however, and Osni Neto was the scorer to put the International Conference team 4-0 up, the final score.

Serbian White Eagles improve to 5-2-1 for 16 points, good for second place in the International Conference, while Windsor is at 3-5-1 for 10 points in the National Conference.

Italia Shooters maintained their dominance of the International Conference thanks to a hat-trick by forward Kadian Lecky for a 4-1 result over Portuguese Supra at Mount Joy, just north of Toronto. Lecky’s goals came at 4, 20 and 30 minutes, his 7th, 8th, and 9th of the season for a 3-0 lead at half-time.

Ronald Nicholas struck the lone Portuguese goal at 67 minutes and Jason De Thomasis scored his 7th of the season at 71 minutes to complete the scoring at 4-1 for Italia.

De Thomasis and Carlos Zebolis of Portuguese were ejected following an altercation at 80 minutes and these red cards followed the ejection of Gavin Fuller of Portuguese 3 minutes into the second half.

Shooters now have an 8-1-2 record for 26 points, while Portuguese Supra are at 1-5-3 for six points.
