Attak, Shooters on top

Trois-Rivieres Attak and Italia Shooters continue to lead the National and International divisions respectively following home victories in the CSL Sunday, while Serbian White Eagles also kept pace with their second win over the weekend, and Canadian Lions played to a 2-2 home tie with North York Astros.

Darko Kolic opened the scoring for Trois-Rivieres Attak at the 9th minute mark before 1,125 fans at the picturesque University of Quebec at Trois-Rivieres, but the game was tied at 1-1 just two minutes later when forward Gino Berardi scored the first of three goals for the Border Stars.

The Attak scored four more goals in the first half, by Alpha Bah at 28 minutes, Nicolas Lesage at 29 and 35 minutes (his 11th and 12th of the season) and Darko Kolic at the 41st minute mark, his 7th of the season. Berardi scored his second for the visitors at 44 minutes, for a 5-2 Trois-Rivieres lead at the interval.

Aaron Byrd struck for Windsor at the 87th minute, his 12th of the season and Berardi completed his hat-trick two minutes later for a 5-4 final.

Trois-Rivieres lead the National Division with a 6-3-5 WLT record for 23 points, while Border Stars are at 4-8-2 for 14 points.

Stalin Cardenas opened the scoring for Italia Shooters at the 31st minute mark against St. Catharines Wolves at The Soccer Centre and Sean Myers made it 2-0 just three minutes later, a score that held up to the final whistle.

Italia Shooters have a 9-1-3 record for 30 points to maintain a 5-point lead over Serbian White Eagles in the International Conference, while St. Catharines Wolves have a 4-4-5 record for 17 points in the National Division.

The Eagles completed weekend double with a 3-2 victory over Portuguese Supra at Centennial Stadium, thanks to an impressive three goals by forward Alex Braletic. The Serbian team defeated North York Astros 6-3 at the same ground on Friday night. Braletic struck at 5, 7 and 29 minutes, while defender Ronald Nicholas at six minutes and Helio Pereira at 15 minutes replied for Portuguse, a 3-2 score at the interval that held to the end.

Serbian White Eagles now have a 8-2-1 record for 25 points, while Portuguse Supra are at 2-7-3 for 9 points.

Forward Evan Milward opened the scoring for Canadian Lions at the 10th minute mark at Birchmount Stadium, but Astros’ Brian Carbajal tied the game at 1-1 just before the half-time whistle.

Milward scored his second goal and his 11th of the season at 61 minutes and Alessandro Boncheri put the ball past Lions’ goalkeeper Matthew Willis for the equalizer and the eventual 2-2 final score.

Canadian Lions are at 1-6-6 for 9 points in the International Conference, while North York Astros improve to 3-7-3 for 12 points in the National Division.
