Attak in playoffs

Trois-Rivieres Attak nipped Portuguese Supra 1-0 at Brockton Stadium Friday night to be the fifth team to clinch a playoff berth with three weeks to go in the regular CSL season.

Elkana Mayard struck the winner for the Quebec side at the 39th minute mark with a solid header past Portuguese goalkeeper Mike Silva from eight yards. It was Mayard’s third goal of the season. Silva appeared to be blocked by a wall of players all attempting to reach the cross.

Both teams had chances to score following the 1-0 interval, but Silva and Jon Paul Piques in the Attak goal, kept the game at the 1-0 score to the final whistle.

Trois-Rivieres Attak improve to an 8-3-7 WLT record for 31 points to join St. Catharines Wolves, Serbian White Eagles, Italia Shooters and Toronto Croatia in the playoffs. Three additional berths have yet to be decided and the playoffs will kickoff on October 14.

Portuguese Supra is one of the teams bidding for the playoffs and they stand at 4-11-3 for 15 points in the International Division.
