TFC Academy's Senior Team remains unbeaten in the Canadian Soccer League in 2009 after a 2-2 draw against Brampton Lions at Victoria Park in Brampton on Sunday. The Academy (1-0-2) are top of the National Division with five points from three matches.

Brampton started the match brightly and had the majority of the play for the first 15 minutes. Both teams had squandered chances in windy conditions before TFC fell behind in the 31st minute. Alex Arbello capitalized on some slack defending and raced in on goal where he was brought down by Soitiri Varlokostas just outside the box. A free kick was awarded and Arbello stepped up to curl a shot over the wall and into the goal for the 1-0 lead.

TFC showed good character and responded just four minutes later. They tied the game off a corner kick from Dominic Roberts which Matt Stinson headed in at the back post for his first goal of the season.

Ten minutes after the break, TFC Academy found themselves down again when Alex Arbello produced a clinical finish to score his second of the game. In the 68th minute TFC Academy were once again back level after another great cross from Dominic Roberts found Allando Matheson in the box for a headed finish. With the score leveled at 2-2, TFC then created three more good chances that should have seen them run out comfortable winners.

"Today was a game that I felt we should have definitely won," said TFC Academy Senior Team Head Coach Jason Bent. "We must not allow situations such as today slip through our grasp and hopefully in four months time we are not reflecting on the points we allowed to slip through our hands today. We created eight glorious chances today and only took two of them. In addition, we gifted the opposition two goals that were absolutely criminal mistakes at this level of play. I said to the boys afterwards, we cannot be content or happy with getting a point because as far as I am concerned, we lost 2 points today."

"We did play some good attacking football at times that was a joy to see. We are trying to develop a winning mentality, a mentality to hate losing, a mentality to not settle for mediocrity," said Bent. TFC Academy return to action on Saturday, June 6th against North York Astros at Esther Shiner Stadium. Kick off is 3:00 p.m.
