NANA AMPONSEM LEADS PORTUGAL FC WITH THREE GOALS IN LONDON

Portugal FC midfielder Nana Amponsem led his team with three goals in a 5-1 away victory over London City at the Cove Road ground Friday night and in one other game scheduled in the CSL, the Serbian White Eagles home opener at Centennial Stadium was postponed due to ground conditions.

Taylor Lord opened the scoring for the visitors in London, a goal after just four minutes of play when he beat London ‘keeper Chris Davies. London City fought back but it was not until close to half-time that they were rewarded with an equalizer by Andrew Loague for a 1-1 score at the interval

Nana Amponsem scored the first of his three goals at 57 minutes, he added a second nine minutes later to make it 3-1 and Portugal’s Raymon Bailey struck the fourth for a 4-1 Portugal FC lead. Amponsem completed his hat-trick in the closing minutes for a 5-1 final.

Mike Silva was solid in the Portugal FC goal.

The win is Portugal’s first in 2009 following two ties against Serbian White Eagles and St. Catharines Wolves, while London City are now with two defeats following their 2-1 defeat in the hands of Italia Shooters.

There is one game in the Canadian Soccer League Saturday when TFC Academy host North York Astros at Esther Shiner, a 3 pm kickoff while on Sunday, Toronto Croatia are at home at Centennial Stadium, an 8.15 pm start.
