July 11, 2009 CSL summary of Saturday games (from CSL media release)

SERBIAN EAGLES BLANK NORTH YORK ASTROS 2-0 AT DOWNSVIEW....Trois-Rivieres Attak nip Italia Shooters 1-0 to extend lead at top of the National Division

Serbian White Eagles defeated North York Astros 2-0 at Downsview Park late Saturday afternoon and in one other game played in the Canadian Soccer League Trois-Rivieres Attak won a squeaker 1-0 at Trois-Rivieres to give the Quebec team a commanding lead in the National Division.

Serbian Eagles took the lead on a goal at 11 minutes by forward Alex Braletic who took advantage of a hesitation in the Astrosí defence to collect the ball, sidestep goalkeeper Arthur Zaslavski and find the net from 7 yards.

Serbia almost went further ahead at 30 minutes when Sasa Viciknez lobbed a ball from outside of the penalty area to strike the crossbar with Zaslavski beaten.

With the score 1-0 at the interval, the Astros fought to get back into the game in the second half and showed promise to get on even terms until the 70th minute when Jarek Whitemen was shown the red card following a skirmish with a White Eaglesí player deep in the Astrosí end.

Eaglesí midfielder Jonathan Hurtis made it 2-0 for the visitors at the 88th minute mark and that was the final score to give his team a 3-1-2 WLT record for 11 points and second place in the International Division.

North York have a 0-6-1 record and still searching for that first win.

Trois-Rivieres Attak scored their sixth win of the season with a 1-0 defeat of Italia Shooters at Trois-Rivieres, Quebec Saturday night Defender James Louis-Jeune scored the goal when he beat Italia goalkeeper Camilo Benzi at 77 minutes to give the Attak a 6-2-0 record for 18 points at the top of the National Division.

Italia Shooters have a 2-5-1 record for 7 points and fourth position in the International Division.
