Locust rejoins CSL for a three-year partnership
Thursday, February 10, 2011

The Canadian Soccer League (CSL) will kickoff its 2011 season with Locust.

Canada’s professional league has signed a three-year partnership agreement with Locust International, which means the Locust ball will be the official match ball of the CSL First Division teams in their upcoming league campaign and all tournament and exhibition matches at home and abroad.

Goalkeepers will wear the Locust goalie gloves to renew a partnership that existed between the CSL’s forerunner CPSL league during the years 2001 – 2006, a period during which Locust developed a reputation in Canada for its distinctive lines of high quality soccer apparel, accessories and equipment following a world launch in 1999.

CSL league administrator Pino Jazbec in announcing the partnership said: “We are delighted to work with Locust again and I know we will develop a mutually beneficial partnership during the coming years.” He then added: “The CSL continues to expand as soccer increasingly becomes the sport of interest with more Canadians and the CSL and Locust together will continue to be a part of the change now taking place across the country.”

Michael Krog, president of LOCUST International since the company’s launch in North America, explained the excitement in his company of renegotiating this relationship with the new CSL. “We are pleased to be a part of the future success of the CSL’s Division One soccer in Canada. The drive and enthusiasm displayed by the CSL teams fits well with our slogan ‘Creating Champions’ “. Krog further said: “With the arrival of legend David Beckham at the LA Galaxy of Major League Soccer in 2007, soccer is now the consciousness of mainstream media and pop culture.”

Locust joins CSL partners Givova, Days Inn, RogersTV and SportCheck as the league moves towards its almost 6-month long campaign to kickoff early May.
