SC TORONTO CONTROL LONDON CITY 4-2 WHILE TORONTO CROATIA BLANK CAPITAL CITY 2-0 IN OTTAWA OPENER - Serbian White Eagles held scoreless by visiting Mississauga Eagles Saturday, May 21, 2011 SC Toronto took control in the second half for a 4-2 victory over London City, Toronto Croatia won their first game of the season, a 2-0 defeat of Capital City FC in what was otherwise a highly successful opener for the Ottawa-based team, and Mississauga Eagles FC held Serbian White Eagles to a scoreless tie in one other game played in the Canadian Soccer League Friday night. Prolific striker Massimo Mirabelli scored twice for SC Toronto at Lamport Stadium, the first when he tapped in from just two yards at the 70th minute mark and is second came just two minutes later to give the Toronto team a commanding 3-0 lead. SC Toronto midfielder Carlos Nogueira earlier opened the scoring at 41 minutes for a 1-0 lead at half-time. London City responded to reduce the 3-0 deficit when Youna Samra beat SC Toronto `keeper Mike Silva at 73 minutes, Alon Badat made it 4-1 for SC Toronto at 75 minutes and Samra scored again for the visitors to make it 4-2 at 83 minutes and that remained for the final score. Capital City FC opened their inaugural season in the CSL at the Terry Fox Athletic Facility Friday night before a capacity crowd and it was an even contest until Croatia forward Tihomir Maletic found the net for the visitors, beating Ottawa goalkeeper Clint Irwin for a 1-0 lead at the 33rd minute mark and a 1-0 score at the interval. Toronto Croatia defender Lee Hagerdon increased the lead to 2-0 at 63 minutes and the visitors defended well to maintain the 2-0 score to the final whistle. Serbian White Eagles opened their home season following a 1-0 away victory over York Region Shooters on May 8, but they failed to score and were held to a scoreless tie by expansion team Mississauga Eagles at Centennial Stadium in Etobicoke. The Mississauga team were going into Friday`s game with a 2-1 win over TFC Academy on May 8 and a 3-1 loss to Montreal Impact Academy on May 14.
