LATE WINNER SPELLS VICTORY FOR SHOOTERS, SC TORONTO AND BRAMPTON CITY UTD - Capital City win fourth straight, while Astros tie St. Catharines 1-1 

Three teams left it late to strike winning goals in a busy five-game schedule in the Canadian Soccer League Sunday, while Capital City enjoyed their 
fourth win in succession, a 2-0 defeat of Windsor Stars. In one other game, North York Astros were held to a 1-1 tied by 10-man St. Catharines Wolves 
following the ejection of Wolves’ goalkeeper in the first half.

York Region Shooters struck in injury time at 93 minutes when forward Jason De Thomasis collected the ball from a free kick to beat Melford James Jr 
in the Mississauga Eagles FC goal at the St. Joan of Arc ground in Maple, a 1-0 win that put the Shooters four points in the clear at the top of the 
CSL First Division standings.

Douglas Sereti scored the late winner in a 2-1 victory by SC Toronto over Brantford Galaxy, the goal coming at 88 minutes at Lions Park in Brantford. 

Galaxy midfielder Nenad Begovic opened the scoring for the home side at the 10th minute mark after taking a pass from Sasa Vidovic.  SC Toronto 
midfielder Ilya Orlov equalized off a corner kick at 60 minutes before Sereti drove the ball past Brantford ‘keeper Vladimir Markotic for the winner.

Brampton City Utd had to overcome a 2-0 deficit to defeat TFC Academy at Victoria Park in Brampton. TFC’s Michael Bilak beat Brampton goalkeeper Roy 
Blanche at 7 minutes to open the scoring and Stefan Vukovic made it 2-0 at 22 minutes – his seventh goal of the season – for a 2-0 score at half-time.

Both teams had a player ejected early in the second half. Andy Garcia of Brampton was was ordered off first following an untidy challenge and TFC 
defender Nathan Kelsey was shown a red card just one minute later for a similar offence.

Richard West scored for Brampton City Utd at 76 minutes, then just one minute later midfielder Andrew Da Silva scored for the home side for a 2-2 score.

Midfielder Oswald Adu scored the winner at the 83rd minute mark, he collected a pass from the right wing to drive the ball low past Academy goalkeeper 
Angelo Cavalluzzo  a 3-2 score that held to the final whistle.

Capital City handed Windsor Stars their second loss in the second game of a weekend swing to Quebec for the game against Montreal Impact Academy 
Saturday – which they lost 5-0 -  and Sunday’s game against Capital City of Ottawa.

Sunday’s game at the Terry Fox Athletic Facility was played in windy conditions for a scoreless tie at half-time, but at 61 minutes the home side took 
the lead on a goal by Sullivan Silva from a pass by Darniem Merette. The home side pressed for a second goal which eventually came at the 82nd minute 
mark, a goal by William Beauge.

The Ottawa team jumps into a position tied for fourth in the standings following what is now four wins in succession.

St. Catharines Wolves found themselves a man and a goal down at 33 minutes when goalkeeper Claudio Perri was red carded by referee Hissane Rafai for 
violent conduct in the penalty area, the game against North York Astros at Esther Shiner Stadium.

Kurt Ramsey of the Astros took the penalty and scored past substitute goalkeeper Matthew Waddington for the 1-0 lead, but the visitors equalized seven 
minutes later on a goal by Scott McLennan.  His left foot drive beat Astros’ goalkeeper Enea Perego at 41 minutes for the 1-1 tie that went to the 
final whistle.
