Attendance was only about 40 at the start of the game and increased to about 90 near the end as permit holders were waiting to get onto the field for their recreational games.

This game was broadcast on Rogers Community Channel who unfortunately had an incorrect gamesheet (just like us at the beginning) but we had corrections dictated to us in the PA booth by the Galaxy manager. I don't know where the Rogers announcers got their SCT list because they called out a goal scorer who wasn't listed at all. Too bad because Alexandro Halis had just returned to the SCT roster after returning from the U-17 World Cup after Canada's 3 and out appearance. Halis didn't get into any of the games.

The Brennan McNicol goal rivalled that of Eric Hasli's MLS Goal of the Week from about two week's ago but it was a shot from off the ground.

Best of the non-scoring chances were at 14 minutes when SCT Dane Roberts connected on a 15 yard bicycle kick goal to the left corner of net after receiving a cross from the left but he was flagged offside. At 25 minutes Galaxy Ranko Golijanin dived to head a 12 yarder that hit the post when he received a cross from the left but that was called back as offside. At 61 minutes SCT Adrian Pena rushed on the right and passed low from 25 yards and a charging Jarek Whiteman booted the shot down the middle over the net from 8 yards or he would have had his second of the night.

TFC Academy grad Sotiri Varlokostas was the SCT goalie tonight with Mathew Silva as the backup. Regular starter Mike Silva was not on the roster. SC Toronto official Isac Cambos said Mike Silva may not be back because of work commitments.

I've heard the most important times to score a goal is just before halftime or just after halftime. With SCT being able to do both, the game was put away with plenty of time still to play.

Galaxy manager Jim Turnbull said this year's crop of eight or nine European players are noticeably older and don't speak English as well (to help the younger local players) than last year's team that caught fire in the CSL playoffs and became champions. They currently are out of a playoff position right now. Hmm—that's not much different than the MLS Toronto FC signing German star Torsten Frings to help their younger players and he needed a translator at his news conference.

SCT move into first place with the win tonight. Capital City had moved into first earlier in the day with an afternoon victory over North York Astros. Both SCT and Capital City have a few games in hand on their nearest rivals.
