ST. CATHARINES REBOUND 5-1

St. Catharines Wolves won their first three games of the season, then went into a serious slump to play 14 games without a victory until Wednesday
night when the Garden City team returned to hit a visiting London City side 5-1 at Club Roma in St. Catharines, the only game in the Canadian
Soccer League.

Calvin Rosario got the home side off to a flying start with a goal in the first minute of play when he collected a rebound off team-mate Matthew Contino
to put the ball past London goalkeeper Fabian Knezevic.

Contino struck the second goal at the 27 minute mark, scoring off a cross by Marc Stenel to make it 2-0 and forward Dana Heimbecker made it 3-0 for
St. Catharines at 39 minutes, the score at half-time.

London bounced back with a goal at 65 minutes by Eris Tafaj for a 3-1 score, but Contino found the net again when a scored from the penalty spot
at 70 minutes. The penalty was called by referee Geoff Gamble, who judged London ‘keeper Knezevic brought down the home side’s Scott McLennan
inside the box.

Knezevic was shown a red card for 'denying an obvious goalscoring opportunity', which brought in substitute goalkeeper Scott Chalmers for the remainder
of the game.

Chalmers was beaten by a strike by midfielder Tony Mermigas at 83 minutes for a 5-1 final score.
