FIVE WINS AND A HAT-TRICK MARK BUSY SUNDAY ACTION LEADING TO FINAL WEEK IN CSL REGULAR SEASON Brampton, Mississauga, Serbian White Eagles, TFC Academy and Montreal Impact Academy all recorded wins Sunday, with one week remaining in the CSL regular season before the CSL Championship playoffs get underway Thanksgiving Day Weekend. TFC Academy upset SC Toronto 2-1 at Centennial Stadium in Etobicoke to complete the regular season for the First Division winners. TFC defender Evan Brandon John opened the scoring at 43 minutes with a long range attempt from just inside the TFC half which bounced over SC Toronto goalkeeper Matthew Silva into the net. It was a 1-0 score at the break and Brennan McNicoll of SC Toronto equalized with a drive from 25 yards that dropped from the crossbar just over the line and the winning goal was scored by TFC’s Jordan Hamilton at 92 minutes, a 2-1 final score. SC Toronto complete the regular season with a 20-3-3WLT record for 63 points, while TFC are at 8-13-2 for 26 points and three games remaining. Brampton City Utd were down to 10 men after just 10 minutes in the game with St. Catharines Wolves when referee Beaudoin showed the red card to Kodzo Awitor for ‘Denying an Obvious Goalscoring Opportunity’. The home side took the lead, however, on a goal at 20 minutes by Giovanni Annisi who headed in from a corner kick, a 1-0 score at half-time. St. Catharines tied the game at 61 minutes on a goal by defender Marc Stenel and the winning Brampton goal came five minutes later from a free kick just outside the box by midfielder Andy Garcia. Brampton City Utd improve to a 14-8-3 record for 45 points and in sixth position in the standings with one game remaining in the regular season schedule - that will be played on Wednesday, October 5th against York Region Shooters. St. Catharines have completed their season with a 5-17-4 record for 19 points. Serbian White Eagles striker Milos Scepanovic scored a hat-trick in his side’s 4-2 defeat of Windsor Stars at Windsor Stadium. He opened the scoring at the 4th minute mark , scored at 19 minutes and again at 42 minutes. Kirie Dimitrov also found the net for the visitors, beating Windsor goalkeeper Anthony Santilli at the 11th minute mark for a 4-0 score at half-time. The hat-trick for Scepanovic was his 9th, 10th, and 11th goals of the season. Windsor forward Gino Berardi scored twice in the second half at 62 and 67 minutes, for a 4-2 final score. Serbian White Eagles complete their regular season with a 13-6-7 record for 46 points, while Windsor Stars have a 3-19-3 record for 12 points and one game remaining against TFC Academy. Mississauga Eagles FC ended their inaugural regular season in the CSL on a winning note, defeating North York Astros 2-1 in a close contest at Esther Shiner Stadium. The match was decided with all goals scored in the last 12 minutes of play. Jose Melo put Mississauga into the lead at 81 minutes when he found the net past Astros’ goalkeeper Enea Perego from seven yards and Shaun MacDonald made it 2-0 four minutes later. Diego Maradona moved in from the right to drive the ball into the top left corner from 20 yards to reduce the lead to 2-1, the score at the final whistle. Mississauga Eagles FC complete their regular season with a 13-10-3 record for 42 points, while North York Astros have 0-19-6 record for 6 points and one game remaining. Montreal Impact Academy and Brantford Galaxy completed their regular season with the Quebec side cruising to a 6-1 win at the Saputo Stadium in Montreal. The Galaxy opened the scoring at the 10th minute on a penalty kick by Dalibor Mitrovic, then Montreal scored six in succession starting with a goal by Kevin Luarca at 31 minutes – it was 1-1 at half-time - and Luarca scored a second goal four minutes after the interval. Bastien Bourgault made it 3-1 for the home side at 51 minutes, then Alessandro Riggi struck twice, at the 54th minute mark, then again at 73 minutes to make it 5-1. The goals were Riggi’s 9th and 10th of the season. Greg Turfan completed the rout with a goal for Montreal at the 88th minute mark, a 6-1 final score. Brantford played with 10-men most of the second half after defender Zvonko Bakula was shown the red card by referee Mathieu Bourdeau at 61 minutes for holding an opponent and denying an obvious goalscoring opportunity. Montreal Impact Academy complete their regular season with a 13-8-5 record for 44 points, while Brantford have a final 9-14-3 record for 30 points.
