HIGH FLYING MONTREAL ACADEMY CLOSE SEASON WITH NINTH STRAIGHT WIN...CSL Playoff schedule announced 
   
A remarkable nine-game winning streak by Montreal Impact Academy ending with a 4-2 victory Wednesday 
night moved the Quebec team into the runner-up position in the CSL First Division and a home game 
advantage in the CSL Championship playoffs that begin this coming weekend.

Montreal defeated TFC Academy 4-2 to close the regular season for the CSL, which now goes into a playoff 
series with the top eight teams bidding for a place in the CSL Championship Final to be played at Centennial 
Stadium in Etobicoke on Saturday, October 27.

Anthony Jackson-Hamel struck early for Montreal, he found the net after just three minutes at Downsview Park 
in Toronto, but TFC midfielder Joshua Penello tied the game 1-1 nine minutes later.

Montreal’s Zacharia Messoudi put the visitors in front 2-1 at 16 minutes and Philippe Lincourt-Joseph made 
it 3-1 when he beat the Toronto goalkeeper Adam Street at the 36th minute mark.

TFC’s Christian Campanella cut the lead to 3-2 with a goal at 43 minutes, the score at the break.

Forward Charles Joly scored for Montreal at 68 minutes, a drive from an acute right wing angle that found 
its way into the net from 20 yards and the game ended with a 4-2 win for Montreal Impact Academy. 

Montreal’s nine-game winning streak lifted the team to a 14-3-5 WLT record for 47 points, in second place, 
four points behind the defending CSL champions and this year’s league title winner Toronto Croatia.

TFC Academy ended their regular season with a 10-7-5 record for 35 points and 6th in the standings.

There was one game in the CSL Second Division Wednesday, Brampton City Utd B defeated Brantford Galaxy B 3-0 
to end the regular season for the CSL reserve teams.

The quarterfinal games for both the First Division and Second Division will be played the weekend 
October 12 to 14 and the winners will advance to the semifinals to be played the weekend 
October 19 to 21.

The CSL Championship Final will be played at Centennial Stadium in Etobicoke on Saturday, October 27 at 3 pm and 
will be preceded by the Second Division Championship at 12.30 pm.

All CSL playoff games, if tied at the end of regulation time will play two-fifteen minute periods of extra time. 
If the match is tied after two fifteen-minute periods of extra time, penalty kicks will be taken in accordance 
with FIFA rules.
