FIRST HALF GOALS GIVE BURLINGTON MIDWEEK VICTORY

Burlington SC won their fifth game of the season with a 2-0 away victory
over St. Catharines Wolves at Club Roma, St. Catharines, the only game
played in the CSL Wednesday night.

Burlington were aggressive early and found the net after just five minutes
when forward Darko Thomas scored from 10 yards for a 1-0 lead.

Nicholas Lindsay increased the lead to 2-0 just 11 minutes later, collecting
the ball well inside the penalty box to drive the ball just inside the left
post past St. Catharines goalkeeper Matthew Greco. It was 2-0 at the break
and it was the ninth goal of the season for Nicholas.

The second half was a more even contest with Antonio Stranges prominent for
the Garden City side and coming close to scoring, but any chance of a serious
recovery were lost at 86 minutes when the home side were reduced to 10 men.

Referee Allison Enright showed the red card to Angelo Beatrice of St. Catharines
following a second caution. The game ended, 2-0.

Burlington improved their chances of a playoff spot with a win that produced
a 5-9-0 record for 15 points and eighth position in the table, while
St. Catharines are at 4-10-0 following the loss.
