Result and details of the Wednesday October 16, 2014 League 1 Ontario game between Toronto FC Academy and Sigma FC played at Downsview Park in North York at 8:00pm. This was considered a Cup semi-final game.

This game was postponed. Officials waited for the lightning and heavy rain to pass over. It was still raining when the game was called. The big problem was the field (field turf) was flooded to the point of being unplayable.

TFCA had just obtained the Downsview Park Field #2 just an hour earlier. They were supposed to play on the field beside it but the game officials found one of the goals had a broken cross bar. The permit holders who play their games widthwise with small portable goals were bumped to the other field. The game could not be played at Toronto FCs KIA Training Centre because it does not have lights! The Academy is only allowed to play on the turf field as only the pro team can play on the natural grass field (which is surrounded by decoy fur foxes to scare away the birds).

I was standing under a canopy but was told along with the players to get off the field so we all went into the KIA Training Centre for shelter. I could hear the rain pelt off what felt like a tin roof. Before I left I was told that part of the complex was flooding. On my way back through Downsview Park to get to my car, I could see the flow of water running downhill towards the training building.

The other semi-final between Vaughan Azzurri vs Durham United FC was scheduled to be played at the same time at Esther Shiner Stadium which was only a few kms away.

The TFCA game was rescheduled immediately for Saturday morning at 9:00am at the KIA Training Centre. It will be daytime so it can be played there! I have the Toronto FC vs Montreal Impact MLS game to go to at 2:00pm. The other semi is harder to schedule as they're still looking for a field to play. Supposed to be (tomorrow) on Friday night.
